I cleaned my room

Today I cleaned my room. It was starting to look like a crazy person's garage. I literally had to climb over garbage to get to my bed. The city of London called, they wanted their dump back.
So after 8 (8!) bags of trash my room now looks like something a remotely sane person would live in.

Ok I admit. I have a hard time throwing stuff out. I think I might have whatever disorder the people from "Hoarders" have. Here are some interesting finds during my first and only room cleaning since the summer:

1. A housecoat from 10 years ago that I have never worn once while in this house
2. 4 grocery bags filled with yarn
3. My prescription for glasses (I've been looking for this forever)
4. At least $15 worth of change
5. A bag on uneaten cookies from at least 8 months ago

You know I actually really like having a clean room. It is nice to have one thing be organized when everything else in your life is a mess!

The Cape Review "Kozmo"

I'll watch anything that involves Summer Glau doing whatever it is that she is doing in this picture. Anyone who knows me knows that I'm a pretty big fan of Summer Glau, so much so that I've stalked her at conventions and watched everything that she has ever appeared in (no matter how bad, search "Mammoth" on youtube). If I was ever to be in a photo with her I probably would be so nervous that I would pull a hover hand:

So it only makes sense that I would check out NBC's new superhero drama that attempts to fill the hole left behind by the canceled "Heroes". Now let's be honest, that hole is used to being filled with material of questionable quality, so the bar isn't exactly set high. That being said, I found myself mildly entertained by two-hour premier of "The Cape". I felt it had major issues with pacing (way too much plot in two hours) but I decided that I would give it a chance mostly due to the presence of Miss. Glau and the future promise of seeing her dance around in the air in a circus tent.

The 3rd episode, "Kozmo" aired Sunday night, 9pm on City TV and Monday night, 9pm on NBC. This episode was much more entertaining to watch than the pilot but is not without problems. I think the show needs to decide what tone they are going for. At times it is incredibly silly with lines such as "You can't hand the Cape" and Glau's "I don't squeeze." At other times it is moody and try to create a sense of drama. I think someone needs to make a decision here. I'm all for camp as long as they don't half-ass it.

This show definitely has potential to be good if it gets a more consistent tone and comes up with some original material that hasn't been explored by every other example of the genre. The backstory of Glau's character "Orwell" is more interesting than most of the predictable stuff that is going on with the Cape himself.

I suppose none of this really matters anyway, because with Summer Glau on board this show definitely has an expiration date.

ALL PUMPED UP

I'm having one of those nights. Maybe it's the huge bag of jelly beans on my table, or the bottle of diet pepsi I drank today, or maybe that pink lemonade I decided to buy at the grocery store, but whatever it is I AM HYPER. It's one of those nights when I want to jump up and down and dance and shout to the Lord and giggle and cry until my neighbours complain and my cat Whiskey gives me a look of disapproval.

But instead I need to work. So here's the thing, I'm going to work hard with a smile on my face, knowing that even the densest of readings can't ruin this mood.

Things I did today:
Watched some episodes of Everwood,
Went to lectures and Child Health small groups
Went grocery shopping (got pink lemonade)
Went to Christian Meds and Dents worship meeting

Back to the blog

It's a new year and I'm excited to try this blogging thing again. There are many exciting things going on in my life and I can't wait to write about them here.

I just got back from a weeklong vacation to the Caribbean. My parents, my friend Vicki, her mom Pat, and I went on a cruise. It was my first cruise and it was fantastic. The weather was so warm and it was so restful.

My favourite place was St. Martin, where Vicki and I went kayaking in a salt water lagoon. We saw jellyfish that live upsidedown and sting you when you pick them up. We also saw sea cucumbers that look like poo. We met many nice people on this day, I will remember it fondly for a very long time.

In class right now we have been learning about the female reproductive tract. I'm really loving the material but I am finding it difficult to concentrate in class. This is going to be a very stressful semester, especially because I will be planning for a very exciting summer trip that I will talk more about later.
